Amsterdam massages when you are back in the city after many years

The canals are where you left them. Almost everything about booking a massage in the city has changed, though, and this page sets out what is different now, what has stayed the same and how Amsterdam massages are arranged today for a guest returning after a long absence.

The short answer

  • She comes to you, at the address you are already using
  • Forty to sixty minutes across the listed districts
  • Half ahead on a first booking, with the total written first
  • Twenty-one or over, guests and therapists alike

Everything on this page is arranged in one thread. There is no form to fill in and no account to open.

Read before you write

The city you remember, and the one you arrive in

The canal ring looks much as it did, and the bicycles have multiplied rather than vanished. What has changed is the way things are done around them: fewer places you simply walk into, more things arranged by message, cards accepted nearly everywhere and cash expected less often. Booking a massage has followed the same path. If your memory is of a street, a doorway and a bell, set it aside; nothing on this site works that way any longer.

Amsterdam massages come to your room now

There are no premises. No waiting room, no reception desk, no address to find after dark. A therapist travels to the hotel room or apartment where you are staying, anywhere in central Amsterdam, and arrives forty to sixty minutes after the booking is confirmed. Hotels out at Schiphol are a separate arrangement, and the travel time there is settled with you before anything else. Guests who remember the older way often say the change suits them: the room is familiar, the evening private, and nothing has to be walked home from afterwards.

Written rather than telephoned

Bookings are made in writing. It can feel less personal than a telephone call at first, but it has one real advantage: the address, the hour and the figure sit in the thread, where both sides can read them again. You write the essentials; the reply says who is free, what it costs and when she can arrive; you confirm. Nothing is held until you do, and nothing is paid before it.

Deposits, which were not part of it before

Paying part of the fee in advance is the change returning guests notice first. Half the fee confirms the first booking anyone makes with the house, every booking made more than a day ahead, every overnight, every two therapist booking, every session of three hours or more, airport hotels and peak dates. The reason is simple: an hour promised to you cannot be promised to anyone else. Cancel more than twenty-four hours ahead and the whole deposit comes back; the booking page sets out the rest of the scale.

Card, Revolut, Wise and crypto

The deposit goes by card, which is what most guests use. Revolut and Wise are payment apps many travellers now carry for foreign currency; if you have neither, a card does the same job. Cryptocurrency is accepted for those who prefer it. Bank transfer and PayPal are not used, and cash cannot serve as a deposit. The balance is paid in the room, and cash is welcome for that part, in euros or another major currency.

Profiles and photographs

Where there was once a description passed on by word of mouth, there are now profiles. Each of the twenty-three therapists has one, showing her age, the languages she speaks, the district she travels from and photographs of her, published with her agreement. The rates table on every profile is identical, which is another change: the figure no longer depends on who you happen to ask. The whole list is on the roster.

Twenty-one or over, and identification at the door

Every therapist, every guest and anyone else in the room must be twenty-one or over. She may ask to see a photo document at the door, whatever age you plainly are; it is looked at once and handed straight back, and nothing from it is copied or noted. Returning guests are sometimes surprised by this. It is asked of everybody equally, and it takes a few seconds.

Where she sets out from

With no premises, each journey starts from the district where the therapist lives. Across the roster, seven set out from De Pijp, six from Oud-Zuid, five from the Jordaan and five from the centre, which is why forty to sixty minutes holds wherever you are staying inside the ring. Traffic on the canal streets moves differently from how you may remember it, with more bicycles and fewer cars, but the window stays the same.

What stays in the thread, and what does not

Only what the booking needs is asked for: where, when, how long and with whom. There are no accounts, no membership and no mailing list to be removed from later. Anything that needs a formal record, such as a complaint or a question about what is held about you, goes by e-mail to [email protected] and is answered in writing.

What has not changed

The pace. An evening arranged here still begins with a few minutes sitting down, the lamp on and the ceiling light off, and it still runs at a speed you choose. She still decides what the session includes and tells you her limits before it starts. And the price is still a plain figure, printed on her own page and proportional to the hours, with nothing added for the evening or the weekend.

Finding your way back into it

The simplest return is ninety minutes of sensual massage or plain oil work, the formats with the fewest unfamiliar parts. Write where you are staying, the date and hour, the length and, if you like, a line saying it has been a while. That line changes nothing about the booking and makes the reply easier to pitch at the right level.

Any of these profiles can be asked for by name, and the reply says at once whether she is holding the hour you want.
