Booking From Home, Weeks Before You Fly to Amsterdam
Some guests like the evening settled before they pack. What booking a month out involves: time zones, the deposit, one free move and what to do on arrival.

A certain kind of traveller does not leave the important things until he lands. He books the restaurant for the anniversary dinner before he books the flight, and he wants the evening in Amsterdam arranged in the same unhurried way, from his own study, weeks before departure. That is entirely possible, and it has a few features worth knowing.
Writing across time zones
The one real hazard in booking from home is the clock. Every hour in the thread is read as Amsterdam time, and a message written in the evening on another continent can easily mention an hour that belongs to the wrong side of the world. Put the words Amsterdam time after every hour you write. It looks fussy and it prevents the only common mistake.
The same goes for the date. An evening booking made from the far side of the world may cross midnight in the conversion. Give the date as the calendar in Amsterdam will show it on the night.
The message itself
The five facts are the same as for any booking: where you will be staying, the date and hour, the length, a name from the roster or a line about the evening, and whether you are travelling alone or as two. If the hotel is booked but you do not yet have a room number, say so; the number can be added on the day. For a rented apartment, the address and the entrance directions can follow nearer the time, once you have them from the owner.
Half ahead, as for any booking more than a day out
A booking made more than twenty-four hours before its start carries half the fee in advance, and so does any first booking with the house. On two hours, that splits the fee into two equal parts, one sent now and one handed over on arrival. It is paid by card, or by Revolut, Wise or cryptocurrency, once the hour is agreed in the thread. From that point the evening is fixed, and nothing more is needed from you until the day.
If the trip moves
Trips booked weeks ahead are the ones that tend to shift. A flight is rescheduled, a family event moves, a first night turns into a second. The rules allow for it. One move to another date is free if you ask more than twenty-four hours before the booked start and the new date falls within fourteen days; the deposit simply moves across. A cancellation with more than a day's notice returns the whole deposit.
A flight changed by an airline counts as a change on the guest side, so it is handled as a move or a cancellation in the ordinary way. Given early, that costs nothing. Only something genuinely outside everyone's control, such as a transport shutdown, turns the deposit into credit automatically. The booking terms give the full scale.
Choosing someone weeks ahead
A booking made a month out leaves time to look through the profiles properly. Each shows her age, the languages she speaks, the district she sets out from and photographs published with her agreement. Name the woman you would like and the reply says whether she is free on the date. If she is not, it says who is, and the decision remains with you. Therapists keep their own hours, and the further ahead you ask, the more of the roster has an open evening.
On arrival in Amsterdam
Once you land, write a line in the thread to say you have arrived and give the room number if you did not have it before. Nothing else is needed. On the evening itself, warm the room an hour ahead and clear a chair by the door. She arrives at the agreed hour, may ask to see a photo document, and the balance is paid then.
If the first day in the city proves more tiring than you expected, and the booking was for that night, the thread is the place to say so early. A move to a later evening in the same week is usually simple, and it is free once when asked for more than a day ahead.
Booking from home for the airport
